As someone who has acne prone skin, keeping my skin in top shape is a must at all times. I am constantly on the look out for new products that will rejuvenate my skin and have it looking healthy, clear and feeling soft.
I have suffered with acne since I was in my teens. Ive been on medication, avoided make up and tried tons of different products that claim they can do really good things for my skin. I’ve heard it all.
Weekends in watching endless youtube videos. Recommendations of other females who have tried and tested different products to find the solution or formula to clear skin has definitely been me several occasions. I have come to terms with the fact that my skin may not be 100% clear and realised that if how I look bothers someone then I just keep it moving.
In fairness my skin has improved and I feel confident in my own skin. In all honesty I have some marks and the acne is pretty much non existent. You have to learn to accept that there are some things you cannot change and with that keep on moving in life. After much research, I do finally feel that I have found a skin regime that works for me and I want to share that with you.
As this isnt a sponsored, I wish to make clear that I do use all of these products and I wouldnt suggest products which I dont use. Namely because this is a topic which is really important to me. I aim to be as open and honest as possible about my experience with my readers!
This product is used by a well known Instagrammer – Anna Maria (xammasi). She mentioned she used it because she suffers with oily skin. I myself with acne prone skin and oily skin, I decided to give this a try. I first starting using it in February and have not gone back.
The French brand La Roche Posay have various different ranges depending on your skin type. Effaclar is therefore for acne prone skin. It has honestly helped to reduce acne and I dont get break outs AT ALL other than the odd spot here and there – which goes away within two or three days with the help of some of the products below.
The effaclar set includes a facial wash, toner and moisturiser. The toner really helps to keep break outs at bay which is alcohol free so it doesnt dry out your skin at all. The moisturiser is a good base and can also be used as a primer. The only downside is that I dont find it helps with oil control.
I use this mask once a week as a little treat for my face at the end of the week. It really cleanses your pores and leaves your skin feeling super soft. You only need to use it sparingly to get great use out of it.
Price: £19.99 (400ml)
I use this once I have washed my face to make sure I remove any make up I havent taken off. When I run out of the moisturiser mentioned above, I actually use this as an alternative because it is super rich and hydrating for my skin. It also smells beautiful
I try not to use wipes because I feel it doesnt take up my make up off very well. If I do use it, I again do so to remove any left over make up or because I can feel my skin has a build up of impurities and want a quick fix to exfoliate my skin. I probably use this once or twice per week.
I find this cleanser really helps with surfacing or surfaced breakouts. If i use this and I have a spot, it will be reduced the next day and within two or three days the spot is gone. As I have grown up I really try not to touch my face even when I have a spot thats bothering me and this cleanser helps to control and keep break outs at bay.
It does dry out your skin so I would suggest only to use it as and when as opposed to being an part of your every day routine. I worry that if I over use products which are really drying, my skin will try yo over compensate and produce more oil. So I try to use this sparingly.
Last but not least is my most recent purchase and use pretty much every day.
Once I wash my face I use this to exfoliate my skin and again, make sure I remove all my make up. Its really easy to use and I think its great value for money because it comes with 4 other brushes to use for your body and face. Its a really cheap alternative to the sony clarisonic which I just cant afford! I cant make a comparison on which is better but I feel the difference in my skin from using the spin. My face feels really soft after each use and because it acts as exfoliator I feel this is what also helps to control my breakouts.
My next step is to find some good skin care products which help to reduce the oily build up. If any of you have recommendations please link below! Also let me know what skin care products are part of your every day routine and whether you have tried the ones I mentioned above!
