Now that September has come to an end and 2017 is just around the corner, I thought it would be the perfect time for setting goals for this month.
Having set one of my goals as creating a blog last month, I thought it would only make sense to keep the momentum going by setting goals for myself every month. If you guys didnt already know, I created this blog to do something with my time as I thought that it would help me monitor my progress and personal development.
I figured that if I set myself goals every month, I will keep up the pace to stay active and focused. I also figured that a month was a reasonable length of time to get things done but not too long that I start to feel my goals are unattainable. I don’t have much patience when it comes to goal setting and quite frankly, if I don’t see some sort of results, my goals start to look less like goals and more like non existent.
Theres loads more reasons why I feel setting goals every month is beneficial, you can check that out here. I use the business planner (affiliate link) which is a great way to write down your goals and get specific. It sets out a really detailed plan to action your goals with a calendar, business plan and loads of other helpful tools to achieve your goals.
What I will say, is that If you’re someone who finds it hard to stick to goals, setting small monthly goals may help. At the beginning of each month, I will introduce with a review, what I achieved from the previous month and of course, my new goals.
Goal 1: improve my photography.
I recently bought a Nikon D5300. When I decided to start blogging I thought it was only right that I bought a camera to take some great photos and videos seeing as my iphone camera capabilities were slim to none. So now I have this fancy piece of equipment I need to learn how to use it. I’ve nailed down the basics but now I need to put things into motion. Maybe I will create a separate page which keeps a portfolio of the photos I take.
Goal 2: Stay consistent at posting
I want to make sure I post at least 2/3 times per week. I thought about posting once a week but I didnt think that was enough. So my aim is to post atleast 2/3 times per week. You guys will sure enough see in the next 4 weeks whether I have met this goal!
Goal 3: Stick to my budget
I’ve never been a fan of budgets. But there comes a time when you start wanting more for your life like your own home, making investments and clearing law school debts, that a budget starts to look more like your university room mate than your high school enemy.
I started this budget 2-3 weeks ago and its been hard but I’ve been sticking to it because my budgets usually last all up to 1 day (no joke).
I will probably do a ‘how to’ post on budgeting, later on this month.
Goal 4: Finish reading at least 1 book
This one I probably find hardest. Ive bought books from uni days (6 years ago) and still yet to read. Not to mention I’ve bought more books since then.
I currently have my hands on Shantaram – a true story based on a man who escaped from prison – twice! You can check it out here (affiliate link). Once I finally get around to finishing it, I will eventually do a book review.
Goal 5: Cook more meals at home
My last main goal for this month could be the most fun of the all. But probably on par with improving my photography.
This goal will tie in with sticking to my budget so its killing two birds in one stone. Improving
my culinary skills while saving the pennies. I prefer to cook meals that are pretty quick and easy. After watching Jamie Oliver’s ’15 minute meal’ programme, I realised there was definitely no excuse not to cook. You can check out the book version here (affiliate link).
I cant wait to share what meals I’ve been able to make.
What goals have you set yourself for October? Comment below, I’d love to hear them!
