Competition makes us faster, collaboration makes us better
A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it, it just blooms
When theres so many industries and thousands of businesses within those industries, its clear to see why people make competition such a big thing. Now Im not saying it doesn’t exist or that its something that people don’t face. But I think that people can still succeed without trying to be beat everyone else and attract negativity.
Heres the thing. You have your own style and personality and thats why you stand out. Thats your brand. 1000 people will love you for it and be loyal. 100 people wont love you for it and will find someone else that delivers a similar service or product that you provide.
Some people will feel that your brand and your mission align with their perspective on life. Others won’t and thats ok because you’re not for everyone. My point is that, I think theres enough business for everyone because people have different tastes and interests. With a capability to have a worldwide audience, why are we convinced that competition will be enough to stop us from succeeding?
Why is there a need to feel that you’re ‘up against’ someone else. Helping and supporting others will expand the amount of opportunities open to you. People will remember you as the go to person for what ever you specialise in. You will be the one people refer for deals or business ventures because you’re easy to work with, positive and helpful. Holding others back and withholding information is only going to portray you as somebody who is difficult and unhelpful. It is possible to work along side others within your chosen industry and succeed. If a company chooses someone else for a brand deal? thats ok, there will be plenty more opportunities with another company. Another candidate got the job? You’ll find a better employer to work for. Those opportunities were not for you anyway. What is meant to be will be.
I simply feel competition is an excuse to be negative and to find fault in others and to think we are better than them. People can put you down and put you off when they start to mention competition and rivalry. Im here to tell you not to listen. You can carve out your own path, bring your own swag and influence and still do well. When you work together, you grow togetherTweet This
